Session 1

Extra Extra!: What’s the Latest Sage MIP Fund Accounting (INT)
Join us for an overview of all the modules available followed by a review of the changes in MIP Fund Accounting version 9. This session will cover the specific changes and how to implement them within your organizations. Primary changes are in screen icons, the maintenance tables, memorized transactions, and the Payroll module. Find out also what’s coming with Sage MIP Fund Accounting version 10 and a possible sneak peak!

MIP’s Report Writer: Customizing the GL Detail and Trial Balance Reports (INT)
Understand your reports – An overview of MIP’s report writer and basic analysis reports – the general ledger and trial balance reports. Use of content, filter, and option tabs to customize reports for your needs. A guide on setting up reports for management review, audit preparation, and accounting controls.

Session 3

Big Picture Budget Reporting: Using Financial Statements (INT)
A demonstration of budget reporting within Financial Statements. When and how to use multiple budget versions, how to create multi-year budget comparisons and utilizing segments other than the GL in your rows. We’ll create custom columns for rolling dates and set up calculations that can reflect the budget version differences.

Best Bet MIP Client Solutions (INT)
We’ve culled the best solutions from your submittals. Meet clients who have customized MIP and set up processes to improve efficiency. They will review their process; the functionality added and end results. Learn our top clients’ secret to success starting with their research and needs down to their implementation in MIP.

Session 5
Don’t Double Down on Accounts Payable: Tips and Tricks GL Setup (INT)
Speed up data entry and reduce errors. Learn how to set preferences for the way you work and set automatic defaults for entry. We cover when you should use import, distribute, or memorize for data entry. A special look at making reversing and correcting entries within AP. In AP Analysis Reports, we delve into the Vendor Activity report – creating a check report that shows the underlying expense classifications. The new 1099 functionality will also be demonstrated."

Sage MIP Fund Accounting Users Round Table Discussion & Networking
Meet your counterparts and stymie the consultants. A group session where you share a table with counterparts in your industry. Discussion topics for each table will be prepared in advance. This is primarily a session to interact and build relationships with other nonprofit organizations In addition, all consultants will attend and will be ready for your most difficult issues. We’d like to build a top 5 request list for features and/or processes, so bring them with you!

Session 7

Labor of Love: Importing from Excel (INT/ADV)
Covering the basics of AP, AR and JE importing. Update your master files, import transactions, and perform mass edits/reversals. This session will review imports using segment codes and imports using distributions (useful for payroll). Learn the MIP tools and gain the ability to customize the DEF file to meet your data structure.

Session 8
Our Secret To Success: User-Defined Fields (INT)
Learn how to create a master item, document and transaction user defined fields. This session reviews the basic functionality behind creating and defining custom data fields, extending master item information (vendors, customers and segments), managing and budgeting using performance metrics, and customizing reports with this data.

MIP Fund Accounting Track 2

Session 1

Building Fort Knox: Accounting Controls in MIP (ADV)
This session will cover all features within the MIP Administration module with emphasis on designing and applying user security including the advanced security module. Design and document your user and data security procedures. Learn the log tables and cover items to watch for in terms of user edits and changes. In data controls, learn the use of account code combinations and budget controls.

Session 2
You’re Fired: Financial Statement Formats (INT/ADV)
Fire the spreadsheets and let MIP Fund Accounting do the work for you. Learn how to build custom formats used throughout advanced financial reports. The default formats in the SSA database will be the starting point. We’ll cover adding categories, setting them up for substitution, and how to total the sections. Build grant reports with language and GL rollups that match their particular needs.

Session 3

Start Packing: Migration Strategies (ADV)
The underlying databases in MIP are moving to SQL Server Express (replaces MSDE) and SQL2005 (replaces SQL2000). We’ll cover the recommended migration strategies and point out the danger areas. A review of the additional functionality in the databases, especially in regards to the new size limitations and backup methods.

Session 4
It’s Payday!: Using MIP’s Payroll Module (INT/ADV)

Get updated on the new Payroll module. MIP has added code calculations, tax reports, and updated report outputs. An overview of payroll processing with new enhancements covered in detail. Change employee IDs and utilize more user-defined fields to customize the human resource data within MIP.

Session 5
What’s In Your Future: Financial Projections (ADV)
Where are you going? Move from historical accounting to financial reporting. Build cash and revenue reports that model future trends based on your history. Update them as new data becomes available. Use multiple budget versions and attachments to model and save projections. We examine the built in reports that MIP has available, as well as the ability to create custom reports using calculating columns.

Session 6

One-On-One Meeting with a JMT Executive
The one-on-one meeting with a JMT executive during session 6 must be booked in advance with this session registration. This meeting is an opportunity to discuss the product, working with JMT or anything else of your choice.

Session 7

Advanced Financial Reporting: Statement of Activities (INT/ADV)
Join us as we review the Statement of Activity report. Starting from design of the statement format with multiple levels, we will guide you through to the final output. You can match your auditor’s layout! In addition, we’ll cover using budget and variance columns to build a report that compares and shows each program in their own column.

Session 8
The Check Is In The Mail: Accounts Receivable Billing (INT/ADV)

An in depth presentation on processing with MIP’s AR Billing module. A best practices review for setting up charge codes, billing groups, and distribution codes. We’ll look at the invoice and customer statement outputs available, including the new options in version 9.

Learn how to use the Job Queue Module and a job server to set up scheduling of exports, reports, receipt runs etc. Use the offline capability to run complex reports during the day and free up your computer for other work or schedule items to run in off-hours when printers aren’t busy.

The training/computer lab includes computer workstations and instructors for individual hands-on training. This is a unique opportunity to have your specific questions answered on the MIP Fund Accounting, Sage Fundraising 50, Sage Fundraising 100 and Kintera FundWare software systems. You can also try out new tricks learned in the classes you attend. The computer lab is open to all INNOVATE 2008 attendees and included with your registration fee.
